Acne like rash on face, neck and chest and over the counter acne treatments with benzoyl peroxide

Too many individuals will prolong acne by trying to "over-treat" the disease. Not knowing what to do, they run to the pharmacy and buy up several acne treatments and begin using them all at the same time. This is so counter productive. Too much of a good thing will always turn into too much of a bad thing. This type of approach will only aggravate the whole outbreak and also prolong acne from clearing up.
Some people believe that if you have acne, then you must not be washing your face regularly. This is just not a true thought. Washing your face can help reduce the amount of extra oil that remains on your skin. The oil producing glands are locating under the skin; however, so washing your face will not keep you from getting acne, but it may be able to help with the severity. Be careful not to use an alcohol based cleanser and not to scrub too vigorously as these things can irritate the skin and actually worsen the condition. A mild soap and water is the best thing to use to wash your face.
If not treated early, moderate to severe acne can cause unsightly reddish or brownish spots on the face, that can darken more if left unprotected under the sun. For the more serious deep scarring type, some topical medications are suggested (tretinoin, Alpha Hydroxy Acids), laser resurfacing or chemical peel for acne scar, dermabrasion, punch techniques, subcision, or saline injections.
